OMG!So this is me. English bloke living in the USA having emigrated in 2011. Married, two children, one grandson.

So here we are. It’s now been a year since I arrived in the USA. How time flies!

Essentially, the purpose of this blog is to keep our friends and family back in good old Blighty, and our new friends and new family here in the US, up-to-date with our progress and adventures living here in America.

In June of 2011 we bought this ‘old’ house. It was built in 1900 and appears to be one of the oldest houses in the neighbourhood, certainly in the immediate vicinity. Sadly, the previous owner had not paid any attention to the property for the five years that he owned it and in the end the bank foreclosed. It stood empty for about a year with no-one seemingly interested in it at all, but fortunately, the house has stood steadfast patiently waiting for someone to lavish a little love on it.

And here we are, slowly trying to rectify the problems that have persistently plagued this property for any number of years. As all home owners will know, it’s a long process, but we’re here for the duration. There have been some surprises, some mishaps, plenty of fixing and mending, laughter and tears … all the usual, basically. It’s a big house (four bathrooms, for goodness sake!), a sizable garden and close to the center of town. I freely admit that at first I wasn’t totally enamored with it but I can honestly say that as time has gone by and I’ve seen the guts (and I mean that in two senses of the word) of this place, that I have grown to love this house and living here, and I continue to do so.

So keep checking in, feel free to comment, rate, do the usual bloggy things. I look forward to hearing from you.
